• Age 11 - 17 (or 18 if student has not yet attended college).

Recording
The recording must include at least two (2) contrasting works, representing the best of applicant's level and artistry. The total length of recording should be between 10 and 25 minutes. Pieces can, but do not have to be, the same pieces for the festival. Pieces must be performed by memory.
Repertoire Suggestions
At least two contrasting pieces and one etude must be ready to play at performance level for the festival. In addition, participants are encouraged to bring extra pieces that are works in progress. Any questions about repertoire should be directed to Dr. Gustafson at palmettopianofestival@gmail.com. All selections for performance must be memorized. Works in progress can be memorized, but it is not required.
Tuition
We are thrilled that in 2026, thanks to a generous donation, tuition for boarding participants is FREE.*
Free tuition includes:
-five private one-hour lessons with Artist and Assistant Faculty
-two or more performance opportunities
-at least one masterclass performance
-field trip expenses
-chamber music coaching
-one-on-one practice coaching
-entrance to all lectures, presentations, and concerts
*Boarding participants still must pay their Room and Board fees (outlined below).
Room and Board
Participant Dormitory stay
Shared Room in chaperoned festival dormitory, plus three meals a day: $1000
Our two dormitories have a laundry facility and a shared kitchen. Students will be monitored closely by our Assistant Faculty.
Parent & Participant on-campus Townhouse stay
Townhouses have laundry facilities and full kitchen.
Private townhouse; three meals a day for participant included: $1800
Shared townhouse with one other family; three meals for participant included: $1200
Parents staying in campus can purchase meals A LA CARTE in the dining hall, prepare their own meals in townhouse kitchen, or eat at local restaurants
Day Passes
Day Pass participants must pay tuition. The rates for day students staying off-campus with parent/guardian are $200/day.
Students can stay for as little as three days or for the whole festival.
